19th-century English Victorian Smoker’s Bow armchair (traditionally known as a Captain's chair)

A beautifully proportioned late 19th-century English Victorian Smoker’s Bow armchair (traditionally known as a Captain's chair). This particular piece features an exceptionally generous, deeply contoured solid elm saddle seat displaying a striking natural grain pattern and a rich, warm amber patina. The heavy, steam-bent continuous horseshoe armrest is supported by eight robust ring-turned baluster spindles. The chair stands on thick turned legs firmly united by a sturdy double 'H' stretcher configuration, ensuring superb structural stability.A distinctive feature is the crisp "SVE" stamp impressed directly into the underside of the seat base, denoting its historical workshop or institutional provenance. Perfect as a commanding desk chair or fireside accent piece.
