Antique Edwardian Cane Seat Rocking Chair / Arts & Crafts Wooden Rocker / Low Seat Armchair / Nursing or Fireside Chair

A beautiful early 20th-century wooden rocking chair with a hand-woven cane seat and elegant tall back.

This charming piece has wonderful Arts & Crafts influences, with its slender spindle back, shaped central splat and gently curved arms. The chair has a particularly elegant silhouette and a warm dark wood tone that works beautifully in both traditional and contemporary interiors.

The seat has been professionally recaned by a specialist chair caner in its more recent history (label present beneath the seat), meaning it is ready for many more years of use. Cane seats are not only attractive but also naturally supportive and comfortable.

The seat height is lower than a modern armchair, which gives the piece a relaxed, lounge-style feel. It would work beautifully as a fireside chair, reading chair, nursery rocking chair or decorative accent piece.

A lovely example with timeless character.

Condition
Very good vintage condition.
Structurally sound and sturdy with a smooth rocking motion. The cane seat is in excellent condition following professional recaning. There are minor age-related marks to the wood consistent with age and use, which add to the character of the piece.
